sports massage, deep tissue therapy & Swedish massage

massage therapy

Sports massage is a form of massage involving manipulation of soft tissue and can be applied in both a sporting and non-sporting setting. In general, sports massage is used to relax the muscular skeletal system and target any specific problem areas.

Deep tissue massage helps to reduce muscle tension and improve blood flow through the deeper tissues of the muscle, where blood flow can be poor. Limited blood flow leads to an accumulation of inflammatory chemicals and lactic acid that can hamper recovery or hinder performance.

Swedish massage, or classic massage as it called in some countries, is a more relaxing massage, focused on the body's superficial layers with medium pressure.

IS SPORTS MASSAGE ONLY FOR ATHLETES?

Not at all! Sports massage can be an appropriate form of massage therapy for a large number of patients not undertaking any form of consistent exercise.

For instance, patients sitting at a desk for long periods of time, or those working on low work surfaces, will also require the somewhat more specific tissue selection in treatment approach associated with a sports massage.

Reflexology is a holistic therapy that involves thumb, finger and tools to massage and manipulate the feet.

The practice dates back to Egyptian times and has been documented across the globe throughout history. The soles of the feet are said to be a map of the body and by working on specific areas circulation and balance can be restored. Reflexology aids in deep relaxation, enabling you to drift into a peaceful state which can improve wellbeing.

Crystalline deposits, which are waste products, can be felt in the feet by the therapist and broken down to support your system to work efficiently.  By working on these areas crystalline deposits, which cause congestion, are broken down to support the body to balance.

Reflexology can support with:

  • Headaches
  • Menopause
  • Endometriosis
  • Asthma
  • Relaxation
  • Stress
  • Stomach and digestion issues
  • Heartburn
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Sinus issues
  • Joint and muscular issues
  • And many other conditions

Appointments are an hour long, 15 minutes consultation and 40 minutes treatment, leaving you time for a little relax before you enjoy the rest of your day.
