There’s something special about Christmas in Lytchett Matravers. For more than a decade, the sight (and sound!) of Santa’s sleigh winding through the village has marked the start of the festive season — a moment children look forward to, and something adults smile at just as much.
This year, Coach House Fitness is delighted to be taking the reins of the Santa Sleigh Drive, keeping this treasured village tradition alive and giving it a fresh burst of energy.
After nearly a year of restoration — including a brand-new traditional red paint job — the sleigh is ready to roll once again. Santa himself (played by one of our own!) will be joined by a cheerful team of helpers from the fitness studio, who will be walking the route and collecting donations along the way.
Santa will be touring the village on:
📅 Thursday 18th December
🌧 Friday 19th December (weather fallback)
⏰ From 6:00pm
We’ll publish the full route map soon so everyone knows when the sleigh will be passing their street. The aim is simple: reach as many homes as possible to spread some cheer — and hopefully hear a few Christmas bells ringing along the way.
This year, we’re raising money for a cause close to our hearts:
DCCF provides financial help and practical support for individuals and families across Dorset who are living with cancer. Many of the people they help are right here in our broader local community, which is why we’re so proud to support their work.
We’ve created a JustGiving page where donations can be made quickly and easily — and if you’re a UK taxpayer, don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid box so your donation goes even further.
You can donate anytime at:
👉 JustGiving.com – search for “Santa Sleigh Drive” or “Coach House Fitness”
https://www.justgiving.com/page/lytchett-santa-run-chf?newPage=true
We’re also adding a QR code to the sleigh itself, making it even easier to donate from your doorstep.
Coach House Fitness has always been about community. We train together, we support each other, and we look out for the village we’re part of. Taking on the sleigh drive felt like a natural extension of that spirit.
This is our first year putting it together, and we’re excited — and a little nervous! — but we’re determined to make it something the village can be proud of. We’ll refine and build on it each year, keeping the tradition alive for generations to come.
We’ll be sharing:
Follow along on the Coach House Fitness Facebook page and the village community group.
Whether you donate, wave from your doorstep, or simply enjoy the magic of Santa passing by, thank you. Traditions like this only survive through community spirit — and we’re proud to be doing our bit.
Let’s make this year’s Santa Sleigh Drive one to remember and raise some much-needed funds for Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.
Merry Christmas from all of us at Coach House Fitness!

We’ve carefully reviewed all the suggestions received and have added several additional streets to this year’s route. As part of the updated plan, the sleigh will return along Wareham Road towards the end of the run, and if time allows, we’ll look to include extra roads as we make our way back along the High Street towards Coach House Fitness.
The Sleigh Run is planned to run for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. The timings shown on the route map are intended as a guide, as we always allow a little flexibility to stop, wave, and spread some festive cheer along the way.

About The Challenge:
A team of 8 health & fitness enthusiasts from Coach House Fitness took on the 3 Peaks Challenge to support Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF), a local cancer charity close to our hearts. Our mission is to conquer the highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales in under 24 hours.
Why DCCF Dorset Cancer Care Foundation?
DCCF provides crucial financial assistance to Dorset residents undergoing cancer treatment. From helping with travel expenses to covering household bills, DCCF ensures that patients and their families can focus on recovery without the added stress of financial burdens. By supporting this charity, we are helping to ensure they can continue their vital work and reach even more people in need.
The Challenge:
Team CHF climbed all three UK peaks within 24 hours, a test of endurance, determination, and teamwork. Your donations will not only motivate us but also make a real difference to those battling cancer.
Ben Nevis: Standing at 1,345 meters, it's the highest peak in Scotland and the UK.
Scafell Pike: The tallest peak in England at 978 meters.
